Welcome to the Euroserie Supertwin Top gas homepage.

Congratulations to our 2013 and 2014 champion:

Frederik Kirkhoff Schack from Denmark.

welcome racefans

2015 Season's opener.

Hoskovice airfield near Prague in the Czech Republic.

Eight Supertwin Top Gas riders had signed in for the first race of the season, but that's no guarantee for a full field on sunday.
Frank Heitmann could not get his pickup truck started when he was ready to leave home, rodents had eaten the wires.
Chris van Nimmen's team used up the spare tyres for their trailer on the German highway, but all teams made it safely to the track.
Chris had been testing his bike, upgraded with a brand new Hawaya frame, at Shakey, UK, the previous weekend, and noticed a problem with the gearbox. So after unloading, Van Nimmen checked the six-pack tranny once again.

Christian Bruhn, who had already tested his turbo-Honda at the Mosten Spring race, helped his team mate Peter Niklas unloading Peter's almost brand new bike.

The complete Hawaya package with Derringer engine. It even came with a parachute.

Herman Jolink used the training session on friday afternoon to make a check-out pass on his Ducati dragbike, while team Schack put decals on the fresh paint of their new ride.

After two years on a bike that once belonged to Ulf Ögge, Frederik now sits on the bike that Jesper Thiel used to become the 2009 STTG champion.
Here's a picture of Jesper and the bike at Hockenheim in 2008.

Team B&B from Denmark joined the class last year, and bought Cold Albers' bike last winter, gave it a fresh paintjob and planned to attend all seven euroserie races this season. Testing at the 1/8 mile at Mosten went well, and Birch and Jesse arrived in a good mood and enjoyed the luxury of a nearby hotel, while all others were camping in the pits.

Gerd Caspari came to make his comeback on his old Alu-Buell.

The bike had been parked for a few years, after former owner Niessen quit racing, but Gerd bought his "baby" back last winter, and continued the tuning of the engine, getting it to function with the big blower.
Gerd was assisted at the startline by his brother Ully, And also by his team mate Cord Albers, who will race his own bike at Bechyne.

Saturday morning the sun was shining while Van Nimmen fired up his bike.

Birch and Jesse tried that too. But the rod of their starter motor snapped.
Then team van Nimmen found some cracks in the rear wheel assembly, while qualifications were about to begin.

Team Heitmann had arrived in the middle of the night, and were last to unload.

Frank's son Nico missed the call for his first round in his class, but was allowed to make a pass. The topgassers were soon after that, and Frank had to hurry too.

Gerd Caspari was first in line.

It took him 11.2 seconds to get to the finish line, but his comeback is a fact.

Then Peter Niklas for his check out pass on the new bike.

Peter carefully opened up the throttle, but drifted into the right lane before the finish line. The qualifications were held without opponents, so no danger, but not qualified yet.

Team Schack had been testing at the 1/8 mile of Malmö for just one day, so for Frederik also the first quarter mile on a different bike.

1.4 at 60 foot, and 8.35 seconds @ 244 Kmh.

Then Christian Bruhn blew up the engine of his Turbo-Honda much sooner then he expected, during his first burnout.

Herman Jolink used low revs during launch and stopped the clock after 8.9 seconds.

Frank Heitmann's first 1/8 mile time of the season was almost exactly the same as Herman's, but Frank lost 0.2 seconds at the other half of the track.

Frank slowed down while getting close to the edge. Four riders qualified after round one.
Meanwhile, Chris van Nimmen had found a possible solution for rear his wheel, a specialised metal workshop near Bechyne. Contact was made by Compbike racer Jan Kouba, team Schack lend their van, so Chris did not need to unplug his camper. The broken starter of team B&B was also taken to that workshop.
Unable to participate, Jesse and Birch started fabricating an adapter that would fit Schack's starter.

Only three topgassers showed up for round two.

Frederik Schack did a 1.24 60foot, and 4.95 on the 1/8, but went off throttle before the finish, after struggling to keep it straight.

Frank Heitmann improved 0.1 second, and Herman Jolink launched with more revs and went 8.47

Just before round three the adapter was ready, and Jesse took the "big red machine" into the line-up.

Birch made a rolling burnout and then his first quarter mile pass.

He drifted towards the center line and hurt his right foot as he hit a few pylon cones, but managed to qualify with 9.46, a new personal best.

Then Peter Niklas, who stayed in his lane and qualified with a 10.7.

frank Heitmann did a nice 8.45, taking the #2 spot in the ranking, passing Jolink.

Then Frederik Schack in the right lane.

A great 60foot of 1.15 but again trouble to keep it straight and did not improve.

Then Caspari ran 9.2 seconds, while blowing the head gaskets.

Then Jolink grabbed the #2 back again, 8.43 @255 Kmh.

Frank Heitmann went looking for a welder to get his wheelybar repaired, and found one nearby as Comp biker racer Pavel Bayer lives close to the track. It was done in a matter of minutes. So he was ready to try and go quicker, but it started to rain, so no more qualifications were held that day. They would continue the next morning, with two more chances for topgas, so still hope for Chris van Nimmen, who returned after dark with an improved rear wheel and the repaired starter of B&B.

The sun was out on sunday morning, but it slowly became cloudy later on, and the wind was constantly changing direction.
Birch came back from the hotel with his foot black and blue, but he could walk like nothing had happened, and they were first in line for their fourth attempt.

But some confusion at the startline as the tree was malfunctioning. So no improvement but still good practicing for the team.

Then Chris van Nimmen with his first attempt: 9.5 seconds, and qualified at place #6.

But the problem with the gearbox is still not solved, it jumps from 3rd gear directly into the 6th.
Schack and Jolink tried but did not improve, and Chris opened up the gearbox once again.

Frank Heitmann used round five to get closer to Jolink, Frank went 8.451, still a 0.02 seconds difference.

Another attempt by Birch Andersen, and a good start, 1.26 @ 60foot, then a lot of steering and off throttle early.

Still, a new personal best of 9.001 and passing Gerd Caspari in the qualification list, claiming the #4 position.

Then Herman Jolink did 8.466 while 0.1 second slower at the 60foot then Frank Heitmann.

Lunch break was followed by the riders presentation and group picture, and five riders topgassers went into the line-up for the quarter finals.

And Christian Bruhn was busy crewing for and towing moditwin racer Jörg Braune.

And team Caspari went home early to prepare for the next race. Gerd want wants to lower the compression, then use more boost.

Top qualifier Schack did his quarter final bye-run in 9.3 seconds.

Then Birch, without opponent because Caspari broke, did almost a carbon copy of his previous run.

This time in the left lane: 1.27 60-foot and 9.06 seconds on the quarter mile.

Peter Niklas against Jolink was no supprise. After he saw Herman blast off, Peter did not go full throttle anymore.

Chris van Nimmen was still wrenching, so Frank Heitmann got a free ticket into the semi finals, with only lane choice against Jolink at stake. But his starter failed, probably a bad solenoid. So it was all over for Frank, no close racing between him and Herman in the semi's.

Next round, first pair, Danish dynamite: Frederik Schack against Birch Andersen. Great 0.077 reaction time by Birch to a lazy 0.37 by Schack.

But Frederik caught up quickly and beat Birch (8.08 vs 9.44) who got close to the edge and off throttle early.
Then Herman Jolink's solo run, very consistent: 8.52 seconds.

Chris van Nimmen was allowed a test run.

.

A great 60foot of 1.20 with the "American Lifestyle Twincam" but still problems with the gearbox and a 9.574. A fresh set of sprockets will be thrown in soon.

Frank Heitmann had taken off his leathers and forgot all his troubles when he assisted his son Nico at the startline in the finals and saw him win in the National Dragster class.

Well done Nico!

Jan Kouba beat Andre Bartak finals of the Competition Bike class.

.

And Schack had lane choice against Jolink.

Again a late reaction by Frederik, but a great 60foot time and already ahead at the 1/8 mile mark. But slowing down after the 1/8 mile and just 0.006 seconds too late at the finish line. Herman Jolink saved his best for last, like he always does. He did his best 60foot of the weekend and best time of the day, 8.433 seconds, just enough to win the race.

So two times champion Schack is doing the chasing after the first race in the championship, and a sixtyone years young guy on a Ducati is in the lead. And a great start of the season for team B&B.

Thanks to Yvona, Mr Hutla, and to the rest of the crew.

Czech Television made a report about the race.

Race #2 in the serie will be in the Czech rep. again, during the Eurogames in Bechyne, and except for Peter Niklas, all racers mentioned above will be present there. Gerd Caspari will be crewing for Cord Albers, and Christian Bruhn will either fix the Honda or use his Ducati 999. Home boy Milan Kolacny will be there with his blown Honda. Olaf Menzi from Switserland is on the entry list, and so is Mats Larsson from Sweden who will bring Jan Malmberg too. So probably more competition and excitement at the next race. See you all there.
